All members of the St. Rita Academy of Hope family are expected to demonstrate the behaviors above at all times. By adhering to these behaviors EVERYONE – students, educators, and parents – will reach personal goals and contribute to continued improvement and success of the St. Rita family! The Eagles SOAR were chosen as the foundation to our sanctuary in order to build a bright future.
Serve God & Others
Serving God & Others emphasizes that all members of the St. Rita Academy of Hope family must be oriented in serving God and others. In Matthew’s Gospel, when the pharisees asked Jesus which of the many laws were most important, Jesus responded with: “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all of your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39). This expectation focuses on putting God first in all that we do as a sign of our love and respect for Him and loving our neighbor through kind actions and words.
Open to Growth
As an educational institution, our primary focus is to build bright futures by creating lifelong learners. Learning is not a state of being, but a process that requires trial and error. Being open to growth means recognizing that learning a process and that through determination and resourcefulness goals can be met. Many times, we may struggle to gain an understanding of a topic or process, but must always recognize that through struggle comes growth.
Accept Responsibility
Accepting responsibility is a core habit that is necessary to being a productive and service driven individual. Accepting responsibility requires the individual to follow expectations with the knowledge and desire to independently make good decisions. It also includes telling the truth and being accountable for your decisions regardless of the consequences.
Ready to Reign
Being Ready to Reign means that students are eager to take ownership of any situation. A lesser used definition of the term reign found on dictionary.com states: “be the best or most important in a particular area or domain”. This expectation requires that individuals are well prepared for any situation. It encompasses many of the behaviors and traits required for students to be successful in a classroom setting. It also means that students are socially and emotionally in control of themselves.
